Rashid Mwinyi, born and raised in Zanzibar, is the
Executive Director of the PYI, where he plays a pivotal role in providing
strategic leadership and management direction for the organization. As an
enthusiastic and passionate leader and activist, Rashid is dedicated to empowering
young people to thrive in their lives through a variety of innovative programs. With
over seven years of experience, Rashid has been instrumental in designing, implementing,
and evaluating youth-related interventions in both Zanzibar and Tanzania as a whole.
Rashid's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Economics of Development,
reflecting his commitment to understanding the economic aspects of development and how they
can be harnessed to benefit the youth. Prior to his involvement with PYI, he co-founded the
Home Talent Learning Foundation, an NGO with a strong focus on providing educational support
to the community.
Rashid also worked as a Programs Lead at Cube Zanzibar, a startup and business enabler that
offers a wide range of support services to aspiring entrepreneurs and small businesses. In
this role, Rashid was responsible for executing innovation and entrepreneurship training,
coaching, and mentoring programs for young innovators and small business owners in Zanzibar.
