02-08-2018Pamoja Youth Initiative (PYI) takes great pride in the profound impact we have made in the lives of 180 young girls at Connecting Continent Secondary School in Chake-Chake Pemba through our recent menstrual health education campaign. On May 24th, 2023, our dedicated team, in collaboration with sexual reproductive health officers from the Ministry of Health and the passionate female teachers of the school, united with a common purpose to provide invaluable knowledge and support to girl students aged 14 to 18 years, from form one to form four.
Our holistic approach aimed to empower these young girls with comprehensive information on menstrual health,
ensuring they possess the necessary tools to navigate this natural process with confidence and dignity. By
engaging sexual reproductive health officers and experienced female teachers, we ensured the delivery of
accurate, evidence-based education, tailored to the specific needs of the students.
The interactive session fostered a safe and inclusive environment, promoting open dialogue and dismantling
societal stigmas surrounding menstruation. Covering a range of essential topics, including menstrual health
education, nutrition, prevention of early pregnancy, and gender-based violence, our campaign aimed to equip
these girls with the knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their reproductive health and overall well-being.
Drawing upon thoughtfully designed educational materials and engaging activities, we facilitated a deeper
understanding of the girls' bodies, emphasizing the importance of proper nutrition during menstruation and
providing practical hygiene tips for maintaining their health and well-being.
